Unless you have an MobileMe account and set up the iPod to be a found by MobielMe you have to find it like you do any other item you lost. You just look.
AND CAN YOU PLEASE STOP WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR SHOUTING AND PEOPLE HATE THAT.

1. find my ipod (mobileme account required)
2. fone home ( required the app on the iphone)

The ipod touch does not have gps at all.
You cannot locate it unless you subscribed to mobileme before you lost it and
you activated find my ipod touch/iphone before you lost it and
it has not been restored and
it is powered on and
it is connected to wi-fi
Then you could find the registered address of the wi-fi router to which it is connected.

The iPod Touch *does not have a GPS function*. The only way to track is if you have;
- Activated Find My iPod Touch
- Location service set to ON
- Wi-fi is ON

If we put in the serial number for the ipod is there any way I can see the IP address or the location or when it was last synced to a computer?
Where are you going to put the serial number? I wold say no to all yur questions.
because apple is such a stuck up and money wanting company, they dont help you find your ipodin any matter at all. The only way is at mobile me . com but thats useless. Your device must be ON and connected to WIFI so like most devices that get lost, you arent gunna get it back.
What if you dont have a mobile me id cuz it says i have to login with a mobile me id and i dont have one

how is an ipod supposed randomly connect to wifi and if it never connects ur ****** i think apple should take care of ipodsalot more
