Hi !
I faced the same problem, and this is what I did to make Facetime work with iMac
1. Make sure your login ID and password is verified
2. I didn't change the DNS, but I change another modem which don't have password access !
3. And once it connect, I can login my Facetime immediately. Then I quit Facetime, change back to my previous modem (which have login password), and it works fine after that.
Not sure what is the problem, as it is in Beta version, but i think something to do with the router as observed by others.
Cheers !

Thanks for sharing your successful idea.
For users that do not have a second "modem which don't have password access", shutting everything down and restarting modem, router/wireless (if you have separate devices), and Mac in order may accomplish the same thing. Be sure to let the self-test finish on each device before starting the next one.
Thanks again for letting us know what worked for you.
