Is there any way to get Windows Live Hotmail on Mac Mail via Exchange?

Just a tidbit in case y’all don’t know - yes, any free Windows Live Hotmail accounts can now be accessed via POP or Exchange Activesync. However Exchange Activesync only works on mobile devices, such as iPhone. Since Mac Mail supports Exchange, isn’t it logical that Hotmail via Activesync should work as well? Right now, it doesn’t- anybody know any workarounds to this?
