Filter for that soap opera look?

Try a Glow plus copy your footage up to a second v track put a blur on the second track and bring the opacity down on the second track

Tiffen makes a soft and warm filter for your camera-- which is what they do on the soaps- they can post one of those shows in about as long as the show lasts plus about 15 minutes to weed out the bad takes.

i use the erueka plugin Silk Stocking on my wedding footage daily. This adds a soft glow to the footage.

looks good, renders fast, and is cheap

Personally I like the effect from Joe's Diffuser or CGM's Silk filter much, MUCH better than either Eureka's or CHV's Silk & Fog. I suppose its a matter of personal preference. Of course, the ones I like aren't free .... sigh.

I'll second Davids choice of Joe's Diffuser. More control options than you have with the other silk filters I've used. I thought the package prices weren't bad for what you get.
