brother DCP-7030 printer/scanner can print wireless easy, but not scan

hi
i just added a new mac mini to my working place to my MBP15" (2008) and plugged the brother DCP-7030 printer to the time capsule which i use as wireless network. it was easy to set up the wireless printing for both computers.

since this is a laser printer/scanner combination i would like to use the scanner function wireless (otherwise i have to unplug and plug everytime i want to scan from one or the other macs), but there is no way to set it up or make it work in any way. with the cable attached to both computers no problem.

is it not possible to scan in a wireless network?

thanks and cheers
george

sorry for my late reply joe - i have not noticed there was a reply at all.

yes, i did install the brother control center software.

however, in the mean time i did contact the brother costumer service and they got back to me telling me it is not possible to use the scanner in a wireless environment.

if anybody was successful to do so it would be interesting, as i have seen around 1'000 people have watched this post...

thanks joe

NO I did not, just checked it after reading you post because it made me curious, worked immediately as if I was on a wired network. And knowing that the help you get form a company is only as good as the agent you talk to...

I assume you are on the latest and most up to date drivers. If not download and instal.

After that is up to date and it is not working, what you could try is to reinstall the Control Centre.

First make sure you have the latest copy of it to instal. (Download at Brother).

Next remove the deferent files related to it.

Delete the "Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Preferences/Brother" folder.

Delete the "Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/Brother TWAIN.ds" file.

Delete the "Library/Printers/Brother/Utilities/ControlCenter" and "Library/Printers/Brother/Utilities/DeviceSelector" folders.

Restart computer.

Empty your trash.

Install again. Hope this does it. And maybe Brother is right it simple does not work with your model. Alternatively raise a new ticker and see if you get the same answer.

Morning George,

I hope so too for you. Please post back so we all now if it worked or not.

I see a typo in my last post, should read: Alternatively raise a new ticket with Brother and see if you get the same answer.
