POP Mail Verification Error

Somebody has changed something and I am now getting pop mail errors
with Apple Mail. When I try to pop mail from the pop.att.yahoo.com server,
I get a veriification error (see link)

What is a Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority?

What do I need to do in Mail to fix the problem?

Calling ATT (my ISP) is a waste of time as they do not support Mac
software and Yahoo will not accept questions

 24" iMac and 13" MacBook Pro both w/4GB , Mac OS X (10.6.4)

The message is warning that the server you have connected to (pop.att.yahoo.com) has a certificate that identifies it as something else (inbound.att.net).

On the basis that "inbound.att.net" is indeed a valid destination for "pop.att.yahoo.com" you can click the tick box at the top to say "always trust" and then click on the connect button.

A client I support on ATT-Yahoo has also received this problem within the past two days. My client runs both 10.4 and 10.5's versions of Mail.app on two separate machines--this particular case doesn't appear to be version specific.

Calling AT&T's support line is indeed no help as you've figured out--I would guess by my research of past problems like this on DSLReports.com that it's just a temporary mistake and it will resolve itself soon.

ATT either screwed up the certificate or it's one not compatible with Apple's list of included certificates--if it's the latter, it'll get resolved in a future software update.

It's certainly not fun having this concern hanging, though.

I tried your tip and I think it may have helped. Like Kiwi Graham indicated I thing ATT screwed
up and many of us are paying the price.

I have all kinds of certificates and I just accepted the last error message. I hope it holds up

I fixed the Apple Mail problem then ran into a nasty issue with Entourage that
was giving me this error

The problem for both Mail and Entourage was fixed by using the Keychain Access and
ran the Keychain First Aid/Repair. This cool utility from Apple did the trick

If you have not checked your Keychain access for sometime, I suggest you run
the Repair option under Keychain First Aid
