Facetime call to Australia

My sister in Australia just got an iphone 4. We have tried to connect using Facetime. She has put me in her contacts and I have put her in my contacts, but when either of us try to use it and push the FaceTime button we get a message saying: "FaceTime Failed. **** is not available for FaceTime." Am I doing something wrong?
