a friend gave me her Lexmark 2500 all in one. It won't scan, but does print. It's an old printer, there doesn't seem to be Lexmark scanning sw availalbe online. The driver I have doesn't seem to work with image capture. I looked at vuescan and they don't support this model. I have not tried fiddling with photoshop yet; I don't want to screw anything up. Any suggestions besides buying a new printer or going to the public library?
I-book 1.2ghz G4,
Mac OS X (10.4.9),
Image capture, Photoshop 7 & 8
That's for OS 10.6. Mine is 10.4. I have the Lexmark scanner driver in my library under image capture devices. For some reason when I open image capture it fails to see the hardware. And pressing the manual scan button on the printer does nothing.
It could be a firewall issue. You could try to disable the firewall in the System Preferences and check if Image Capture recognizes your printer. Make sure to allow "Enable access for assistive devices" in Universal Access. If these tips don't help, I suggest you uninstall the printer driver and reinstall using the Lexmark X2500 driver from the Lexmark website available at
