iPad cannot connect to internet

I'm not able to connect to the internet with the iPad I bought today. I can connect to my wireless network at home, but when I try to browse safari gives an error "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet". I've not inserted my 3G sim card yet, becasue I don't want to activate it until I'm sure my iPad works.

I've tried:
Verifying that other devices can access the internet via my wireless network: they can.
Resetting the network connections on the iPad
Renewing the lease for the wireless connection on the iPad
Turning the iPad off and on again

Any ideas?

Found it! I had entered the wrong password for joining the the wireless network. It's odd that my iPad indicated it was connected to the network even though I had entered the wrong password.

Now that I'm connected I can see that the Router and DNS settings shown for the wireless connection on the iPad are populated. When I used the wrong password these were blank.
