Normal for iPhone 4 to get warm-hot?

Ok I've been noticing my iPhone getting rather warm to hot from time to time.

Is this considered normal or do I have a lemon?

It may get warm playing games or making intense use of the Internet, or on long calls, especially when the signal strength is low. It should not be warm when idle. If it is there is a background process running (Mail, Safari, social networking apps like Yahoo or AIM).

I guess it seems to get warm hot with various use.

It gets super hot while it's plugged in charging?

It should not get warm/hot while charging. Sounds like an appointment at the Genius bar is in order. They'll run diagnostics and if found to be defective, it will be replaced. Rememeber to back up the phone before you go so if the phone is replaced you can restore from that backup.
