Normal for iPhone 4 to get warm-hot?

Mine's never gotten even warm. When do you notice your phone getting hot?

I have never noticed this either, which does not mean a lot.

If you believe it to be defective, then you can make an appointment at the genius bar or call Apple Support to have them look at it.

It may get warm playing games or making intense use of the Internet, or on long calls, especially when the signal strength is low. It should not be warm when idle. If it is there is a background process running (Mail, Safari, social networking apps like Yahoo or AIM).

Define what warm-hot is? Like are you using it heavily? Like playing heavy games?

If you are using your phone constantly, you will notice that it will get warm.

If i use it very heavily, like games, surfing on the web, it will get warm to the touch. But if I don't use it then it won't get warm.

It should not get warm/hot while charging. Sounds like an appointment at the Genius bar is in order. They'll run diagnostics and if found to be defective, it will be replaced. Rememeber to back up the phone before you go so if the phone is replaced you can restore from that backup.

Apple handles all service/repair/replacements for iphone. AT&T does not.

You can call Apple Support and have them do it by mail.

When its charging it can get a little warm but other than that it stays cool.

As Roaming said, you have to take it to an Apple Store, not AT&T. If it is too far to travel to, you can call Apple Care and arrange a replacement via telephone, but I believe if you do that you may have to return the phone, then receive the replacement.

I think this is normal - my phone often gets warm (never hot) with a lot of use, especially something intensive like sat nav. This happened with my BB Storm as well. If you think it is hot rather than warm get it checked out, but warm is normal AFAIK
