Safari not working after update

I recently installed an automatic update when notified by my Mac, since then Safari will open, but will not load any websites.
I can use Mozilla Firefox and access E-mails with no problem at all, so the issue seems to be with Safari itself.
I have performed first aid in Disk Utility, but I'm still having the problem.
How can I fix this?

Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Hi and welcome,

Go to your Safari menu bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the first 5 boxes, click Reset.

Relaunch Safari to see if there is any improvement.

Since Safari worked before the update, you may have a third party app installed that was compatible with the prior version of Safari, but not 5.0.2.

Follow the instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3230?viewlocale=en_US
