By default iPhoto 11 expects users to use Apple's Mail to mail iPhotos. In IPhoto 9
we could select the mail application and I did not see that option in iPhoto 11.
Anyone know how to change the preference to use something other than Apples
Mail?
24" iMac and 13" MacBook Pro both w/4GB ,
Mac OS X (10.6.4)
Click the "+" sign and add the e-mail service/account you want to use
Sorry, i tried the "+" and clicked on E-Mail and Add but could NOT figure out
how to add Entourage or Thunderbird. Neither were options and there was no
finder interface to select the preferred mail application.
Please clarify and the link provided to Apple was no help on this topic or I
missed it.
I believe that Entourage support has been dropped and as far as I remember Thunderbird has never been supported - when you set up e-mail accounts there are a number of options - but not all possible options
That would be really rude for a company like Apple to show options
for Mobile Me, Windows Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, G-Mail, Aol Mail and no Finder
in interface for users to select their Entourage or soon to be released Outlook.

Again as far as I can tell Entourage has been dropped - as to unreleased software like Outlook - it would be a mistake to speculate - once it is released then there might (or might not) be information on it
iPhoto takes to long to send email. It should put mail in the outbox on Mac mail or Entourage. I send lots of photo everyday as part of my job. I have to down grade back iPhoto 9. What a waist of time updating to iPhoto 11. Apple please address the problem so i can move forward.
What a shame. Entourage dropped. Mailing a picture takes forever. And if you need to change your email preference, good luck. This is an awful upgrade and I am tempted to downgrade and demand my money back.
It's also a pain to edit a photo. So much more to wade through for the same stuff. I could care less about full screen. This is an inferior product that is clearly not ready to be released.

I think Apple has a 14 day return policy but I don't know if you can
revert to iLife 09. You can't just trash and reinstall because iLife 11
changed the format of your pictures and iLife 09 may not be able to
find them.
Apple has not dropped support for Entourage. Neither does iPhoto assume that you use Apple's Mail. Instead, what they have done is handle the email
within iPhoto. So, you input your Email
Account details - the name of your service, the account name, password, etc, and iPhoto uses that information to send the email +via your account+.
There's an element of swings and roundabouts in this.
Users of Apps like Thunderbird could not email from within iPhoto in the past as that app is not scriptable. By going this way Thunderbird users have the same service as Mail/Entourage/Eudora users have.
So much for the swings: on the roundabouts, however, users of Mail (and I suspect Entourage and Eudora) have a change. They can no longer create an email within iPhoto +and send it by their preferred application+ . If they want that facility they'll need to drag the pic(s) to the icon of their preferred application to generate the new email. (Or, at least, that's one way to do it).

Right and you are warned that this will happen and you have to agree before it does
Reverting is as simple as restoring your iPhoto '09 library from the backup you made before upgrading and loading iPhoto '09 from the original disks - reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only

The and steps look a little scary. I wonder if there is a way to use the Time Machine
backup to get back to iPhoto 09? I feel pretty sure the TM will work on the iPhoto
application but I am not sure about the library and other stuff scattered around the
hard dive.
I think we have all worked out Apple not handles mail within iPhoto. What a mistake. When you email hundreds of photos a day loosing the ability to hand them off to the outbox of Mail or Entourage is a mistake. I can't afford to wait 1 or 2 minutes to email photos. I did a restore from TimeMachine last night and went back to iPhoto 9. I have left iPhoto 11 on my second Mac.
When you select or multi-select your photos from iPhoto, drag them onto the Mail.app icon. A new message will be created and the images will be inserted. Image resize options from within the email are as before.
