My iPad is crying

For a while I thought my iPad was making the little sad "power connect" sound randomly, as it sat there plugged into the wall adapter. From a sound sleep, it would at very odd intervals wake up, show me its charge progress, and beep. Nobody was touching it, but someone would always be near it.

I thought it might be my wife's email client which she often leaves in a browser window, but we closed that and the odd behavior continued.

After a couple more days of puzzling, we realized it was happening when the 'Pad was plugged into the wall adapter, and whenever anyone would *come close* to it! It is not necessary to touch it, you just have to walk by it and it will awaken, beep, and then go back to sleep.

Why?

Hi
A genius bar is the place in an Apple retail store where you can get real help from very well trained people that solve Apple problems every day. If there is no Apple store near you, then the online or phone support is next.

We grow hazelnuts, table grapes, grains and grass seed here in the verdant Willamette Valley, just an hour south of Portland. We also grow other specialty seed crops on a rotation, like clovers, brassicas and some legumes. We also have the best garden we've had in 35 years growing our own veggies and fruit for our family.

You already asked this in another thread, and did not bother to read the replies there. I quote:

Your adapter is loose and when someone stands next to it disconnects/reconnects. This will cause the iPad to make the charging sound.
