Fix works nicely. The only thing is that you no longer have the option of selecting alternative mail accounts as this fix now forces ALL email to be routed through Exchange/Outlook. In some cases one may wish to send photos vial another account such as Apple Mail itself or Gmail. With this solution one now has to go back and re-select those options. So this works for now but I still agree that the Exchange support should be added to allow flexible movement between mail accounts for sending photos. Thanks for the solution though.

The fix is average at best. It allows you to send a photo in your library via exchange email but without any of the new iphoto 11 features of adding cards and different themes. So the question still exists, why add these nice features but not include exchange as one of the emails supported. Also when i tried to use my me.com account, the email addresses on the exchange contact list are not recognized. So you have to write the email addresses manually. This is a pain. I think Apple should fix this.

Having the same troubles as many of you in iPhoto but using GMAIL, I solved my problem when I was reminded in another link that IF YOU HAVE 2-STEP VERIFICATION TURNED ON in gmail, then you'll have to go into your gmail settings>security and get yourself an APPLICATION SPECIFIC password or token. Just copy and paste this "token" into your iPhoto prefs IN PLACE OF YOUR PASSWORD and you're good to go.

Here is where I was alterted to this:

I had the same problem and figured out the solution, but it applies only if you're trying to use gmail to send photos AND you have activated 2-step verification on your gmail account.

Instead of entering your regular gmail password into the accounts section of iPhoto, you will need to go to Google and generate an application specific password, a random password that Google uses to enable applications (like iPhoto) to access your gmail account.

Visit https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens to generate a password and then use that random password in place of your regular password in the gmail account section of iPhoto's preferences. You should be able to send photos via gmail after doing that.

Exchange is NOT equal to mail !

Many companies (such as mine) today have disabled the POP and IMAP support in their Exchange Servers for security reasons. These Servers will exclusively use the Exchange OWA/Activesync protocoll.

Now:

I am trying to send my pictures from iPhoto 11 via Apple Mail 6.3. It does not work and we can exclusively blame Apple for this. Because :

- Apple has cut the rope between iPhoto and AppleMail and has instead integrated a lousy mail module into iphoto that does not support exchange OWA (OWA beeing an industry standard).

Since it was there in previous iPhoto versions and now no longer, the fingerpointing is as clear as it can be.

Does anybody know of an iPhoto 11 plugin that will enable one to use it with a proper Exchange Server ?

Larry:

I have obviously tried that in all ways.

But that only works if your Company/MailProvider still lets you use iMAP /POP Mail on their Exchange Server.

Mine like most companies has disabled this for security reasons. That was not a problem and worked fine with the combination of previous versions of iPhoto via AppleMail.

Since Apple has removed this, it no longer works.

Larry,

1: Please consider reading carefully before you answer

2. Apple did remove the link between iPhoto (V 11 in my case) and the Apple Mail Client (6.3 in my case)

3. Apple has added a Share Tool into iPhoto that will let you add FaceBook, Flickr and Mail accounts and NOT Exchange accounts. Remember Mail and Exchange is not the same.

4. Most Exchange Servers are IMAP/POPMail disabled - nothing new here.

5.Apple Mail 6.3 DOES and has since long supported this very same Exchange OWA/Activesync protocoll

6.Previous Versions of iPhoto used the Apple Mail client to share pictures.

7. The current version of Apple Mail ueses its own module to share pictures.

Bottom line: Everything worked fine until Apple has changed the ways of sharing pictures from AppleMail Client to iPhoto integrated Mail Module.

I agree, this is absurd! Apple has dropped the ball on this one big time. Exchange is the most widely used corporate and small business email solution and it is awesome to have it work so well with Mail and Calendar...taking it out of iPhoto 11 is a step backwards W T F Apple?

As a work around, you can drag pics right out of iPhoto into a new mail message, but this is a P I T A.
