Western Digital 1TB My Passport Stopped Working

I am using a 1TB My Passport with an Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook running 10.4.11.

I bought the WD Passport a couple weeks ago and was successfully able to transfer over all of my Media files (after formatting to work on a mac) to free up space on the Macbook.

All was fine until today when I plugged the HD in and nothing happens. It does not show up on the Desktop, in the Finder, or in Disk Utility.

When I plug it into the Macbook, the white light on the HD flashes and the motor is definitely on, but that's it. I've tried plugging it into other Macs and the same thing happens.

I know that any solution is probably going to include wiping the HD, which isn't ideal, but if the only option, is fine. I just want to get the HD working again!

Any help is very much appreciated.

If it doesn't show up in Disk Utility, one of two things has happened:

1) The drive's enclosure has failed (bad chipset). The drive needs to be removed and placed in another enclosure.
2) The drive itself has failed and needs to be replaced.

You'll have to contact WD to see if they can help you.
