Cmd + space

Why doesn't Snow Leopard (10.6.4) support cmd + space? The space bar is responding alone or with any combination of functions keys, but not with the command key.

I have been using my friends older mac and cmd + space worked with Pro Tools Le (cmd + space = starts the recording) just fine. Should I downdgrade my SL or what?

MacBook Pro 13, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Support it in what sense? There's no default active function set to cmd+space, but you should be able to set them up. For example, go to System Preferences, Spotlight, and tick "Spotlight menu keyboard shortcut" (which is indeed cmd+space). Then hit that key combo, and the Spotlight search box should appear.

Matt,

Command-Spacebar opens Spotlight by default, I use it all the time to launch apps.

Oh, it is on when you first set up the Mac? Mine was off, I guess I must have done that myself.

Yup it's on when you first set up the Mac. I've been using it since Leopard when I first discovered it.

I does seem to work if you but spotlight there. But it seems not to work in Pro Tools, even when spotlight cmd is not on. Weird.
If you but on the "show keyboard window" (I use Finnish version of SL), it does not show cmd+space funciton.
