AUDIO POPS/CRACKLES USING USB INTO PIONEER 3200BT - IPHONE 3GS W/ iOS 4.1

APPLE PLEASE FIX AUDIO POPS/CRACKLES WHEN USING USB CONNECTION INTO PIONEER CAR STEREOS WITH IPHONE OS 4.1!!!

From what I've read on these forums this is a common issue that many are experiencing and has yet to be fixed.

I use an iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.1. I recently installed a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT into my 1997 Ford Explorer XLT this week, and when the iPhone is connected to the deck and playing music through the USB interface there's random pops/crackles/static/digital noise constantly introduced into the audio signal. The problem exists when using the iPod feature of the phone, and when trying to listen to Pandora off the phone. I tried my friends iPhone which had an older OS on it and it played without the pops and crackles that I hear when I use my phone. I can play CD's perfectly, and the radio works perfectly also, so I know it's not a defective head unit. It seems completely random. It almost sounds like you're trying to play a CD with scratches on it. I'm ready to throw my phone out the window!! The whole reason I bought the Pioneer deck was to play my music off of my phone in full digital quality, not through some crappy 1/8 inch headphone jack connection. I woulda stuck with my old stock cassette deck with my trusty 1/8-cassette cable and saved myself the money and all these headaches if I woulda known it wasn't going to work correctly. This set-up is basically unusable like this without going crazy!! 😟 I've been a loyal Apple customer for years, but if this doesn't get fixed soon I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER MAC PRODUCT AGAIN. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS! It says compatible with iPod/Works with iPhone right on the box!! LIARS! What a joke I'm so disappointed! PLEASE FIX ASAP APPLE BEFORE I GIVE UP ON YOUR PRODUCTS!

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS, SUGGESTIONS, WORK-AROUNDS FOR THIS PROBLEM? I've tried resetting my phone, the head unit, different USB cables, and at this point I'm stuck. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Sorry, I'm sooooo frustrated with this right now! Thanks in advance everyone! 🙂

Hello together,

I have a iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.1 and a Pioneer 3200BT.
I've got the same problems and I am very sad about Apples update politic.

I am no Jailbreaker or Hacker, I just want clear music out of my radio.
The iPhone was expansive, the radio was expansiv too and now I listen my music from a USB-Stick 😟 because I can't go back to a firmware that works fine, like 3.1.3 for example.

With iOS 4.0.1 or iOS 4.0.2 they changed the accessory support, after that happend I've got that issue.

I have been having the same issue. I have a kenwood head unit and the radio and cds sound fine. Even if the ipod is plugged in via aux cable, it sounds great. But when i plug it in using my usb cord directly into the head unit, i hear these popping noise that are just loud enough to annoy me. It ***** because the hands free interface is nice while driving but can only be used when plugged in through usb.

Just started having this issue with iOS 4.3. I thought my speakers were going bad at first, but they are fairly new. Next, i figured it was the usb cable (whether it be the connector or wire). It is kind of a relief knowing that it is something to do with the software, because the last thing i wanted to do was start ripping my car apart.

Hopefully Apple addresses this with 4.3.1. Until then, i will use the Auxillary input even though it give a little static hiss.

NOT JUST PIONEER!

Help. I just spent about 2000 bucks on a new Alpine head unit and Focal components (front and rear) and a sub.
The USB connection worked fine as I drove home after installation. I updated to 4.3.1 that very night and now I get pops and crackles. I thought it was the head unit or the wire the next day but after testing with a number of iphones and wires, it definitely is a problem with 4.3.1.

I am so disappointed and I really hope Apple issues a fix as soon as possible. Reading through support forums, I thought this problem was fixed in previous iOS updates but I guess the problem has reappeared in 4.3.1. PLEASE FIX THIS.

I need the iphone connection. The update basically ruined my music source the day I spent so much to upgrade my car stereo. sigh...

Just to put my two cents in..

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 with iOs 4.2.6 and a Pioneer DEH-3200BT with the same issue. However it is intermitten. For some car rides, the static and pop starts immediately, sometimes it takes a song or two. Have no idea what can be. I've even tried rebooting the iPhone with no positive results. Cables I've used are retractable Belkin and the standard iPhone cable.

I am having the same issue but with a 4th gen Ipod Touch connected to a Pioneer AVH-P5200BT. I reground all of my amps, re-ran the RCA's and checked all of my connections to no avail. The headunit is less than 6 months old. I tried my wifes nano and not popping or cracking. Hopefully the 4.3.2 update will fix. The noise is driving me crazy.
