Quicktime Plugin in Internet Explorer 8

On CNET.com, choosing the Video link, I used to be able to download any of the videos there and save them to my hard drive. Now when I choose the download option once a video starts to play, a new browser window opens and the Quicktime plugin plays the video, not giving me the option to save it. On my Win7 32bit netbook, Google Chrome allows me to save the file with no problem. I do not have Quicktime or iTunes on the netbook. My suspicion is that QT is somehow causing the problem. I've tried disabling the QT IE8 addons, and changing file associations. Anybody has a clue on how to correct this?
