Problem with iPod touch 4g front camera.

Have your reset your iPod:

Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Next would be to restore it via iTunes.

One last try is to restore it to factory new and see if it works OK before you add/install anything. If it still does not work then you have to return it.

I have the same problem. I am updating the OS. Hope it works. Not to do. I use 1 day and the front camera started to freeze. Somebody help me. I have no apple store in thousands of kilometers.

Same problem here as well. Front camera stopped working after about 7 days of having the TOUCH. I bought mine through Amazon and they are replacing it, so that is good. Not sure what happened, as I have been VERY CAREFUL with it, haven't even taken it outa the condo yet. I had wiped it down pretty carefully as I had installed a new screen protector and silicone case - so not sure if that suspect static electricity theory might actually be true. If it is, owners need to be warned ferschizzle!! Otherwise, it is my first TOUCH - had an old 2Gig Nano and used the **** outa that for the past 3 years. But the TOUCH is one amazing product - so incredibly powerful for such a small/thin device!! WOW!!!! Very sad that mine is now slightly broken - makes facetime hard to do (but not impossible - can stand in front of a mirror and use the back camera).

I'm having the same problem. I've had a 32gb iPod Touch 4 for about 7 weeks, never jailbroke it anything. I'm finding dozens, if not hundreds, of reports of this online. I hope Apple releases an update to the OS soon that will fix it.

me too, i bought an iPod touch 8gb last saturday, but its camera isn´t working right now!!

Same problem with Ipodtouch4 8g just bought it 2 weeks ago. What to do? There is no apple retail store where I live.

i got my touch for xmas and i was playin with the camera.. and all of a sudden the telespocic thing that opens up when u open up the app closed. it wudn't open back up so i can't take a pic.. and i try the camera all the time and it won't open. but when i open up the app on fbook or different apps like fatbooth or doodlebuddy the camera works...so annoying

I never thought APPLE would release such a faulty product. Shame on them.

I had the same problem, the camera just froze on start up and my friend facetime me and all i could see on my screen was all blank, took it to Apple they tried restoring in and couldn't figure it out walked out with a new iPod for no cost

i have the same problem with both cameras. how do i send it to apple and to where?

Mine does not work either. I can unfreeze it: Settings -> Reset -> Reset All settings === and never try to use the front one after that. I wonder what is this small hole on the top?... Big brother's watching you trying to fix it. 🙂

Bought the junk in Vegas. This is a downside of gambling. So dissapointing.

I have the same problem too... It hasn't been working for me for over a month.. I've had it since September. I can't use the camera app that comes with the iPod. I had get the free camera plus app, but the front still won't work. I've tried resetting, it and the regular camera won't. Work.. Any suggestions? How much will it cost me to send it back and have apple fix it? Thanks
