It is a 17" MBP of 2009, not so old. System clock is fine, and date and time in Aperture and iPhoto are right. Only affects at videos from Aperture in the Event Library.
I tried repairing disk permissions, safe mode, etc with no luck. It seems to be a bug. Anyone with videos in Aperture?
Was your camera's batteries changed just before those videos were taken? I have a few videos that date January 1, 1904 which I imported from a friends camera.
I had to do a batch edit of within iPhoto to fix it.
Same deal here. Various videos from several different types of cameras, with the correct date showing in Aperture and other programs, show the date of December 31, 1903 when seen in the iMovie events.
Inspecting the original file, for some reason, it seems there is no "Created" date for the files that exhibit this behavior.
I've got the problem with just ONE imported clip. ALL my material is recorded on the same camera and ALL material is dated correctly - just one clip has Jan. 1st 1904.
A mystery!
Steps to fix:
1) Change the creation date of the original video files to the date you want the video to appear in iMovie -- I used "A Better Finder Attributes 5"
2) Trigger iMovie to reload the iPhoto Videos -- one way is to open another iPhoto library, then open iMovie and let it read the videos from the second library. Then, quit both. Point iPhoto back at your original library (containing the videos with the bad date). Then open iMovie and it will re-read the iPhoto Videos, and you will see the correct date.
Problem solved. Not sure if there is an easier way to trigger iMovie to re-read the iPhoto Videos.
