Logic for Windows XP?

You might want to try to find out an older version of Logic for PC. Latest version PC-compatible is 5.5.1. But this is definitely not the same as the current versions...

Otherwise, you'll have to forget about it.

Except that it works better than some of the newer versions. 🙂
The problem being it wasn't designed/programmed to handle large amounts of RAM.
I would say that it's about 75% complete compared to Logic 8, at least as far as features go. It will run blazingly fast on a modern PC, and still one of the most stable versions released.

Your best bet is to look for a used version on eBay.

...given that you can find a legit version and that you don't have more than 1GB RAM in your computer. Yes, Logic 5 is that old.

The RAM issue can be dealt with a couple of ways.

There is an entry dealing with virtual memory that can be added to the System.in file.

Or editing the Boot file and creating a separate boot option that automatically limits memory.

If you get Logic 5.5.1, make sure you the the usb dongle. It's called an XSkey. It contains the serial number. Its a USB key that plugs into your computer's usb port; not a hub. Logic 5.51. won't even load without it.

Don't loose the key either, as I don't know if apple could replace it. That was a protection device instigated by emagic before apple came along. Rare as dragon's teeth.
