Where are Notes Stored on Mac?

I use the Notes app on my iPod Touch, and it syncs to my Mac, but when I try to access the Notes on my Mac I can't find them anywhere. I can't find a Notes application or contents that would be in the file when I search with Spotlight.

Where are my Notes stored on my Mac?

My hard drive crashed yesterday and the Apple Store tech was able to back up my User folder before they erased my hard drive and reinstalled the OS. On the back up copy of the User folder, I don't see a LIBRARY folder?! Would that have been a hidden folder? I can't find my Apple Mail Archive folders either. That's a bummer because I took a TON of notes on my laptop. Are these files definitely gone now?

I opened both my Mac and my own identity, checked Library and Documents in each and didn't see anything like mail>reminders>notes. Then opened Mail on my Mac and don't find the note that I created on iPod.

Where do I located mail>reminders>notes? It's probably pretty obvious once I get there, but right now I can't find my notes.

If you want to find your mail > notes. Open your mail app. and look to the left pane, where you have your mailboxes [inbox - drafts - sent - ...] the below that you have reminders [Notes - To do].

Also they can be found on the top bar in the middle of the page.

Open Mail, look for the word "Reminders", click the arrow if need be, then you should see notes.

Notes sync requires Mac OS X version 10.5.7 or later on a Mac. Is your Mac's OS really still 10.5.2 as indicated in your profile?

In order to use your notes app. you need to set up IMAP with Mail, your Notes will appear as messages from yourself in your inbox on your server.
You can sync your notes via gmail and that the easy way.

I read this whole thread but I am still confused. I see how to create a note in Mail. But I don't understand how to sync that with the Notes app on my iPhone, or any way to view Mail notes on my iPhone. If I need to use IMAP to do this, what and where is it? On the iPhone, on the Mac, or what?

I have a MobileMe account and have Notes set to be synced, but I don't understand what this does? What notes are being synced? I really would like to use them on my iPhone. I use the Notes app on my iPhone constantly, and I would really like to be able to sync these notes with my iMac and my MacBookPro.

also, like me, if you need to find where the PHYSICAL location of the Notes on your Mac HD, this is the route:

Macintosh HD/USERS/"your name"/LIBRARY/MAIL/MAILBOXES/PW.mbox

and it won't look like a folder but it is.

click/hold and choose "Show Package Contents"

the notes will be in one of the folders in there, and end with .emlx

No, my Notes do not appear in Apple Mail. I'm pretty sure unless you click the box-with-arrow icon next to the trash icon and choose to send a note by email, your notes never get connected with Apple Mai.
