Home button on ipad

It seems like the home button on my iPad is faulty... When I press it "softly" it won't work. But when I push down a little harder then it will work. I know it isn't just a problem with me not pressing it hard enough because when i compare mine to the apple stores demo ipads I don't have to press nearly as hard as mine. Is this a hardware or software issue? Should I take it to the apple store and have them check it out?

HI,

You may be using an application that disables the Home button without realizing it. Restart your iPad, open a different app and see if that makes a difference.

If the problem persists, try resetting the iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds or until the Apple logo appears.

I've had this happen myself and restarting and / or resetting did the trick. Hope it works for you.

If not, check out the troubleshooting chapter in the iPad Online User Guide here.
