Two nights ago i fell asleep while playing netflix on my ipod touch 3rd gen 32gb.
When i woke up i found that it did not work, the screen is totally blank and it will not respond to anything ( tried restarts holding both buttons...) Upon closer inspection there was a small amount of moisture in the bottom left of the screen after two hours it was all gone. When i got home i placed it in a bag of rice for 24hrs to let it dry. Now its acts the same way and after hooking it to my pc the pc acts as if it was never plugged in ( still no signs of life in the ipod) and after 1 min the bottom left back if quite hot ( the side opposite the headphone jack)

It could be broken or it could have been fully discharged. It takes a while to recarge it to the pont the iTunes will recognize it.

    from the Users Guide:

Important: If iPod touch is very low on power, it may display one of the following
images, indicating that iPod touch needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you
can use it. If iPod touch is extremely low on power, the display may be blank for up to
two minutes before one of the low-battery images appears.

Ay idea how the water got there? I would dry it in rice for few days and try again.

For kicks, do a hard reset and hold the buttons for at least a minute.
