I have an iPhone 3G with the 3.1.3 software. I've only had it for two weeks as it is a warranty replacement. Upon getting home, I connected to my WiFi network. It worked just fine like it is supposed to. Then, all of a sudden it kicked me off and said that my password was incorrect. I try to reconnect and it keeps saying that the password is incorrect which it is not. I have not changed any settings on either my phone or network. My wife's 3GS and our laptop still connect without any problems. Does anybody know why this could be happening and how to go about fixing the problem.
I also just bought the Iphone4. My home WIFI connection is very strong. But my Iphone4 cannot connect although the phoe is set to the WIFI. My hubby Iphone 3G is OK. Laptop is also OK with WIFI. What's the problem???? So dissapointed.!!!!!
i also get this problem at home sometimes... the comp works fine, but for some reason my iphone 4 doesnt connect to my home network... what i end up doing is resetting my router and then everything works fine... only thing is i end up doing this about twice a month so far...
Check the manufacturer's website for your wireless router to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that you haven't installed yet.
hello.i am new around here, but i think i have the same problem with my iphone that all of you have. i am runing ios 4.1 on my 3g, the wi-fi was working very good but yesterday he signed me out from my wi-fi network, now i can't connect to any wifi, the iphone doesn't show me any wifi network. sometimes is shows me the network and when i try to connect to it, suddenly it dissapears.what can i do ? what can we do ? i think it's a software problem. i tried 3.1.3 and i have the same issue. any sugestions ? thx a lot
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Network Settings.
This will erase all wi-fi network settings from your iPhone for every wi-fi network you have connected your iPhone with. This will require re-joining every wi-fi network that you have access to.
If no change after resetting network settings, restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after this, your iPhone has a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else.
I think I may have figuered out the problem. My phone is actually a warranty replacement, that I've had for about 2 weeks. It came installed with 4.0.2 and I upgraded to 4.1. I was just reading the thread where people were saying that they were having wi-fi trouble with the 4 software. Lo and behold they are having the same problems I am. Sounds like the new 4 software doesn't like wi-fi and you can now add me to the huge list of people with this problem.
This is not a new software problem and there is no "huge" list. If a new software problem, then everyone who has installed the new firmware update would be experiencing the same which is in the multiple millions of users and these discussions would be full of threads reporting the same which is not the case.
If you have checked the manufacturer's website for your wireless router for a firmware update that you haven't installed yet and no change after installing the firmware update if one is available, and no change after the other troubleshooting steps provided, and you are unable to connect to any other wi-fi network besides your own, your iPhone has a hardware problem.
If you are able to connect to any other wi-fi network besides your own, the problem lies with your wireless router.
allan, if it is as hardware problem as you say, tell me why sometimes is shows me the wifi networks ? if the wifi module is down, this would not happen. sometimes it shows me the network an when i try to connect to it, it dissapears. the reset of the network settings doesn't help for me. and trust a lot of people are having problems with the wifi after updating from 3.0 till now at 4.1. when the iphone runned 2.2.1 the wireless wa working brilliant. 3.0 got me low signal, 3.1.2 the same, and so on.if there is a hardware problem as you think can i replace the wireless module ?or i have to replace the phone it self.thx
new things happen to my iphone about 2 min ago. it found 4 wireless networks, i manage to connect with my home network, check my mail sign in to appstore, and then wifi is down again.i was windering if it is a way to downgrade to 2.2.1. i cant go lower than 3.0. why is that ? thx
I previously posted a note saying my iPhone 3G kept dropping it's wifi connection then lost it all together. After much reloading I decided to take the Sim card out and clean it. It is now working perfectly again. Worth a go if similar problem?
My girls friend isn't able to connect to my iMacs wifi (Time Capsule), from her iPhone 4 - "Incorrect Password" is the message. She did the reset network thing, still doesn't work. She doesn't have a problem at Starbucks or at her employer's place.
Any suggestion. She bought here iPhone a couple months ago, I assume she has the newest version of iOS (not sure how I can check that).
