little plus sign box

I'm using text boxes in layout format of pages...
some of the text boxes I have made small enough to only hold arrows as part of the pictorial diagram.
2 of them (and they print as it has happened to me before) have little plus box tabs and do not "disappear" with the regular outlines of the text boxes when you click out of them.

thanks for any help telling me how to "remove" these.

Hi!
The plus sign means the content of the text box is larger than the box. It could be a space or paragraph break or a character. Turn on Show invisibles > select the box > drag the square handle in the corner on the box to make the box larger > delete the offending thing if there is one.
