Oct 29, 2010 4:15 AM in response to billdillby kaochen,I'm experiencing the exact same thing. As soon as a project is open with the Nanokontrol plugged in, Garageband closes. I just bought the Nanokontrol to use with Garageband and I'm really disappointed.
Would really love to see updated drivers or an update from Apple. -
Oct 29, 2010 11:05 AM in response to kaochenby Blueberry,Please check that you don't have any special driver for the nanoKontroll installed! -
Oct 29, 2010 11:56 AM in response to Blueberryby kaochen,The only thing I installed was the automap plugin for Nanokontrol+Garageband, which is recommended by Korg on this page: http://www.korg.co.uk/products/softwarecontrollers/nano/scnano.asp#GarageBandPlugIn
OP said Nanokontrol worked fine until the updated version of GB. -
Oct 29, 2010 1:22 PM in response to kaochenby Blueberry,★HelpfulBut that was shipped before GB 11 and it probably hooks into the code of GB. Doesn't surprise me that this crashes GB. Try deleting it and see if that fixes it:
/Library/Application Support/MIDI Device Plug-ins/nanoKONTROL.bundle -
Oct 29, 2010 1:28 PM in response to billdillby boobooboobooboo,★HelpfulTry downloading and installing these:
http://www.korg.co.uk/downloads/driver/dl_driver.asp
KorgUSB-MIDI_Driver_1_0_9r0.dmg
http://www.korg.co.uk/products/softwarecontrollers/nano/sc_nanospecification.asp
-- click on "nano Software" to open the list of downloadable software
-- click on "nanoKONTROLCSPlugin101.dmg" under "nanoKONTROL Control Surface plug-in for GarageBand/Logic"
Hope this helps! -

Nov 14, 2010 2:14 PM in response to billdillby JadedEye,I just bought one of these units and of course it caused GB 11 to crash and Logic Express 9 gave an error message that the bundle was too old.
So I looked into this forum after thrashing around the Korg sites trying to find a solution.
I tried many of the suggestions, and now things work properly.
First follow the instructions in the downloads below to remove old versions from your computer. This is critical. Then run the installers for the new drivers.
Install the Korg USB/MIDI driver 1.0.9
http://www.korg.co.uk/downloads/driver/dl_driver.asp
Then install the control surface driver v1.0.1
http://www.korg.co.uk/downloads/nano/nanoKONTROLCSPlugin101.dmg
After doing both of these I was able to launch GB 11 and have the sliders work properly, the top button mutes the track, the bottom button solos the track and the transport controls all work as expected. The upper knob controls the pan.
I then closed GB11 and launched Logic Express 9.1.3 This time it popped up the controller settings window. The sliders control the track faders, the upper knob controls pan, the upper button mutes the track and the lower button solos the track. This is of course configurable within Logic.
I suspect that the controls in GB are re-programmable, but I haven't figured out how to do that, and in my case I don't have a demand for this right now. This may be handled by the Kontrol Surface configuration tool, but I have not checked. Korg documents issues if you are using older overlays, and states that you should not run the config tool simultaneously with GB or Logic. The Kontrol editor will allow you to create predefined "scenes" but the text for the buttons for Scene 2 and Scene 3 is garbled and I have not saved any changes for fear of it mucking up what is working today. If anyone else knows how to adjust the controller settings for GarageBand 11 and will share it, it would be appreciated.
