Syncing my Ipod Touch to Windows Media Player

hi i'm in need of some serious help. i want to sync my ipod to windows media player but for whatever reason its not. i stopped it from syncing and opening up itunes everytime i connect it but it still won't sync to media player. i don't know what else to do to get it to sync with the media player. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
