MacBook Pro to Cinema Display

Hi,

I've got a 20" Apple Cinema Display. It's aluminum and from 2004. The model number is A1081. I know that it is functional.

I'm trying to hook it up to a MacBook Pro with the mini display port to DVI adaptor.

If i go to system preferences->display I can only get an image to flash on the Cinema Display for split second if I click on mirror display then it's back to nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have the same monitor and use it with my 13" MBP. I use the Apple Mini Display Port Adapter MB570Z/A purchased from Amazon for $29 and the moshi FireWire 800 to 400 adapter purchased from Amazon for $12 and it works fine. The best resolution is obtained with the computer closed so you have to use a wireless mouse and keyboard.
