Front Camera Horizontal Reverse Photo

Hello, I've been searching high and low and have yet to find an answer to this, and it's driving me nuts. I realize the camera app auto-mirrors the realtime view of the front camera, and that when you take a photo, it actually takes it normal. I understand that under normal circumstances, you'd want it mirrored when using Facetime or whatever. The problem with this is, I want to see what I'm actually photographing, not a mirror image of it, while I'm taking the photos. Is there any apps out there that allow you to see the actual camera output while taking photos rather than the mirrored view. I have found a few mirror apps that let you see it with no mirroring, but they don't take photos. Very frustrating, this seems like it should be really easy to do, can anyone help?

If you are still looking for this, check the app store for an app called "Reverse for front facing camera - Self Photo." It is currently free.

By the way, this is not a bug. Apple went to some trouble to make it work this way as it is easier for many people.

Thats a fine app but does not solve the problem. My point of sale program would require the ability to use front camera not mirror imaged in the iOS native mode. Your application does not pass the scanned image to my point of sale program.

when I take a photo it doesnt seem in mirror at all just tested it out...

It doesn't mirror the photo, just the realtime view while you're taking a picture with the front camera. What I want is an app that doesn't mirror the realtime view, and still takes pictures.

what wasnt mentioned is that this only happens on the front facing camera it does not mirror the photo on the rear facing camera only the front facing one

i'm having the same problem. if you they give u the answer please post its super annoying i called Apple. THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT!

You're exactly right. If the camera worked in reverse to the way it now does then the people you face time would see you backwards.

this annoys me to no end.. its incredibly bothersome and something id expect from a samsung not an iPhone.. FIX IT APPLE!

Aclarson, I hear you completely. Mirrors are deceiving in a sense because when people see you they see the reverse of what they'd see on the mirror. We have the technology to see ourselves as we really are so why can't we do it on the front cam if we can do it on computer cams and what not. If anyone figures something out let me know! I agree with 5280pilot. It would be nice to have the option to switch the front camera into nonmirrored mode for all applications.
