How can I use my Sony memory card with my MBP SD slot??

You can use like any flash storage device.

If it is not for camera use, you can reformat it for your needs with Disk Utility.

If it has large enough capacity you can use it as a bootable OS

Take a look at 'Create an Emergency OS X Boot Device Using a USB Flash Drive' at:
http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesprojects/ss/usbflash.htm

The article is about using a USB Flash drive it would be the same for an SD card.
The one caveat is use the original install DVD that shipped with your Mac for the OS.
