IPHOTO 11 WONT IMPORT MP4 FILES FROM MY CAMERA

iPhoto 11 cannot import mp4 files from camera?

Can you download the files onto HD? If you can, can you import the files from the HD into iPhoto?

What's the source of these files?

I use a Samsung ST-1000.
Same behaviour as HELLIS is reporting. Before I upgraded to iPhoto 11, I had iPhoto 09 (version 8.1.2) and it was importing the same MP4 files successfully.

I have just updated iPhoto 11 to version 9.0.1: still not importing MP4 !
I have downloaded these MP4 files onto HD and then tried to move the files to iPhoto with the same error message: «unreadable file - file could not be recognized».

Of course, these files are readable with iPhoto 09 on the other iMac computer I have.

I've got the same problem with my Samsung GalaxyS and nx100.

Samsung may encode videos with their unique format.

re ilife 11 - iPhoto: Same problem with my camera 1080i video file which used to import into iPhoto with no problem. Error log says it is an unrecognized format. Odd part is that QuickTime Player and iMovie import it OK. However, Quicktime will not save it as Quicktime due to a 'timecode' problem, whatever that means. I suspect that apple won't have to look far to find this problem.
Curious thing is that my camera is a Samsung as well? (WB1000)

Any other samsung camera owners with this issue? Any other camera maker having this issue?

My Samsung TL225 has the same issue. I can import into iMove but not iPhoto 11. Kind of a step backwards.

My samsung NV100HD has the exact same problem. Bit irritating really...

I have the same issue.. I have a Samsung GPS CL65 which is same as the ST 1000 and I too have this issue since upgrading to iTunes 11. Here's hoping to an updated fix soon from Apple!

Samsung TL220 also has the same problem

Samsung ST1000 and will not import the MP4 files for me either on iLife '11. Thought I was going nuts but, was able to successfully import the files on my Macbook still at iLife 09 so must be something with iLife '11. Sure hope this gets fixed soon

I have the same camera:

Samsung NV100HD

It worked very well on iPhoto 09 and iPhoto 11 before the latest upgrade on Nov/2011.

The original videos that I have imported still working, but right now if I try to import new movie files (mp4) recorded from my camera, it is not recognized as a valid file, although Quicktime plays it perfectly.

One solution is to transcode all your videos using VLC to another format. But I absolutely don't want to do it to all my video base, it's nonsense.

Waiting for Apple to come with a fix.

This isn't restricted to Samsung cameras. I converted my camera's AVI file to MP4 using ffmpeg and also can't import. Pre iPhoto 11 worked okay.

I'm getting the same thing with the videos taken with my Samsung SL820. The photos all import fine then I get a list of all the video (.mp4) files that iPhoto says the format is "unrecognized". This is new to iPhoto '11. Never had an issue with iPhoto '09.
