optimizing audio and midi timing

I have returned to a song I recorded some while ago in logic 7. i now use logic 9. I notice that there is a slight delay between audio software instruments and hardware midi instruments. The audio tracks suffer from a slight lag behind the midi tracks.

Is there anything I can do to optimize the timing performance and help cure this problem?
