iPhone 4 keeps restarting

Hello,

I've had my iPhone for just over a month now and all of a sudden, this weekend it's started to randomly restart.

It restarts roughly once every 5 - 10 minutes regardless of what I'm using (or not using) it for.

I've tried a restore via iTunes but this hasn't fixed it.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I can't understand how this has happened.

When you restored, did you use a backup? If so, try the following steps as needed

1. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
2. Restore phone in iTunes as a NEW iPhone (no backup used) and test before syncing any apps
3. If it's stable before syncing apps but not after, restore again and add apps one by one.
4. If it still restarts after restoring as new, there is a hardware problem that needs evaluation by Apple.

Just did what you said.

It restarted as I tried to put music on it.

So I'm guessing this means it's a hardware fault? What do I do now?

Unless your phone was ever jailbroken, this certainly is a hardware problem that requires warranty replacement (assuming no abuse or water damage). Make an appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar, or whoever provides iPhone warranty service in your location.

It was never jailbroken and I've taken very good care of the device.

How long would it take to get fixed if I took it to the local apple store? My work and life require a phone and I can't afford to be without one.

Except for a battery replacement or cracked screen, Apple doesn't repair iPhones, they replace them usually with a refurb unit. Unless the store is out of stock, you'll get one immediately.

Don't be concerned if it's a refurb - all mechanical switches/buttons are replaced and they usually undergo more quality checks than factory new units.

I just received a 4s as a warranty replacement this past weekend for a button not working issue and this one started rebooting right away. 4 Days later I am going back to hopefully have this one replaced. I would normally agree that a refurb unit as a warranty replacement is a better tested unit but apparently not always!
