2009 HONDA Pilot Touring and iPhone4

I have successfully paired my iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs with my 2009 Honda Pilot Touring Ed with Hands Free Link.

I upgraded to Iphone 4 this past summer and cannot get the Handsfree Link nor the iPhone 4 to pair at all. The iPhone 4 stays stuck on the “searching” function. And the Honda Bluetooth says “no phone found”.

My iPhone OS is 4.1 and it still is not working. Contacted HONDA and this was their instructions:

Pairing Instructions
IMPORTANT!: You must press and release the Bluetooth®[1] HandsFreeLink® talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the beep before you speak. This step is required before all spoken commands.
Power on the phone and ensure Bluetooth® is ON. Please refer to your phone's user guide for steps to turn on Bluetooth
Press and release the TALK button on the steering wheel and wait for the "beep" before you speak. Repeat this step before all spoken commands
Say "Phone Setup"
Say "Pair"
Say any 4 digit PIN code for pairing. Remember it as you will need to enter it into your phone later. Some phones have a pre-set pairing code of "0000". Please consult your phone's user manual to see if your phone has this requirement. HandsFreeLink will now instruct you to begin the pairing process in the phone
On The Phone
Select SETTINGS
Select GENERAL
Select BLUETOOTH
Turn Bluetooth ON
Select device
Enter 4 digit code and hit OK

But this did not work. So Honda has sent me to the Apple Forums.

Anyone with a 2009-2011 Honda or Acura with the Handsfree Link System that knows how to get the iPhone 4 (OS4.1) to pair with their car?

I also have a Honda Pilot (without the environment damaging Daytime Running Lights).

I found that the Bluetooth interface is not reliable.

It seems like every other time there is a new version of the iPhone firmware or an update in the firmware to my car radio the Bluetooth interface stops working.

I have since changed to a hardwired dock connector in all my cars. These ALWAYS work.

Just about any car audio shop can install these at a low cost.

They are unaffected by firmware updates, and they charge my iPhone and iPod at the same time. So when I get out of my car I have a fully charged iPhone.

Go hardwired, it will ALWAYS work.
