Windows 7 Update causes Crash BSOD KB981957 on 11" Air

I have observed this issue as well. I make sure I skip that update every time now, and I shut off auto updating entirely. I have no clue what the issue is, and the dump data does not seem to be much help.

You might want to post something in the bootcamp area, as there are a number of Windows Experts that frequent that area.

There is a fix for this problem.

1. Connect a mouse to your system
2. Go into Device Manager and disable both TouchPad devices (Human Interface Section)
3. Update you system normally, including all important updates.
4. Re-enable TouchPad Devices.

You should be good to go, as I have tested this myself.

That is the only update for Windows that has caused a problem to date. Others have required a restart, but did not result in a BSOD, so here's hoping it never happens again. The good news is that with System Restore, it is usually pretty easy to back out of an update that squirrels the system.

In my case, I met BSOD crash with KB971033.
(I've installed windows 7 x86 KN enterprise edition)

So just passed the KB971033 update, it hasn't occured until now.

I had this problem too.

Even though I asked to download a new version of bootcamp when setting up my system there were newer drivers.

Solution.

1) Go to the most recient restore point
2) Boot Windows 7 and turn-off Automatic Updates
3) Run Apples Software Updates and install the most recent Bootcamp
4) Re-install Microsoft patches
5) Turn back on Automatic Updates
