I just posted a thank you... on my original posting as i couldn't find you...
i took your advice... but i have a gas cooker and didn't do the math!
Pre-heated for half an hour gas mark 4... stuck in the hybrid for 10 minutes...
didn't work!
but tried again as i figured i had nothing to lose...
cranked up the heat gas mark 6 and left it in for 15 minutes... didn't touch it in case it fell apart.
It worked... i can unplug and plug it in as i always did...
be brave and give it a go... if its already dead you have nothing to lose.

My Hybrid was giving the 1.1 error so I removed the plastic casing and baked according to KamPrs instruction and voila I now have a working Hybrid again. Thanks heaps.

Txau-me: 1,000 thanks! I just upgraded my imac to os lion: EyeTV Hybrid device suddenly was no longer detected, even though it had been working fine for months previously. Followed advice on Elgato's site, but that did not help. Despite assuming that this thread had to be a joke, desperation led to the blow-dry method since it was already dead. I didn't take the case off and just guessed how long. Set aside to cool 5 mins and plugged the sucker in & voila discovery channel started playing. So happy! 🙂 Thanks Again!

My Hybrid stopped working again last night, so baked again and voila, working this morning. 😎

i have contacted elgate before but they said i probably have a problem with the usb port from my mac (not enough power available...) so i bought a usb hub ect.. no success
i tried it with a hairdryer (about 30 secs or so) and it works again...

After 3 years of burning fingers when heating my Terratec Hybrid (essentially the same as EyeTv Hyvrid) I've used the KamPr recipe - baked it just afer oven cooled down after the bread and left it to cool down properly over the night. In the morning I've pluged in and it worked without any additional heating. Thanks!
Cooked my WinTV-HVR-900 for 6 minutes at 200ºC and I've been able to use it without any USB 1.1 error for one week. I was going to cook it for 12 minutes as suggested by KamPr but I saw a thin stream of smoke comming out from the device so I stopped the cook. Great solution for a really annoying problem.

really cant believe it but it really does work! my hybrid would rarely be detected without endless un and re-plugging till it eventually detected and Elgato support advised it was faulty.... then sent me numerous mails to ask if i was satisfied with the answer - like f*^% am i! so thought id be having to buy a new one but thought id give this a shot and did as KamPr instructed and its been there on every boot! very happy! genius!

KamPr's solution worked a treat, thank you so much!
I followed the instructions exactly, but I used a fan forced gas over on 195ºC for 10 mins. It did give off a bit of a 'burning smell' and a few 'wisps' of smoke. I let it cool for 3.5 hours, re-assembled it and plugged it in, works like normal. Great
