Aperture suddenly hangs on startup

Hey
I haven't updated aperture recently or anything, it's on the latest version, and has been for a while. I tried to start it up today and it just says "Opening Aperture Library..." and hangs, making me force quit. I rebuilt the library twice, and tried making a new library, same problem.
What's wrong and how do I fix it?

I don't have a solution, but today I was working on a picture and AP crashed...simply went away. Tried to open it again, and it automatically closed again. As it was trying to open, it was loading the last picture I was working on and then AP would crash. I was finally able to get it off trying to load that one picture and Aperture would stay open. BUT, if I selected the one picture, Aperture would start to load it and then crash.

SO... I selected the picture and very very very quick removed all of the adjustments made! And that worked. I re-edited the picture using a different sequence of brush tools and it seems to be fine now.

My interpretation is AP wrote something to its edit list that caused the initial crash and all subsequent crashes and when that edit list was removed for that particular picture, it was ok. Serious bug... one that I have never seen, but I have noticed that AP 3.1 crashes... quietly disappears pretty frequently.

I would guess that AP has written something to your library.... Maybe there is a way to remove the edit list for the last two or three pictures you were working on by going into the library?

I'm having the same problem as well. I now hold the shift key right after clicking on the Aperture icon to open it, and that prevents it from generating previews upon opening. Then I can work in AP without it crashing. But I'm still playing around trying to find out what will solve this. I'm thinking of deleting my preview file and regenerating it. I also found this link which talks about the same problem.
