How to add rows in Pages '09

I have set up a 3 column format to enter details of contents of my removal cartons. I've filled one page, and can not find a way to go beyond that page. I select the final cell and hit RETURN. Nothing happens. I select the final row on page 1, go to FORMAT, TABLES, ADD ROW and I get a ghostly grey cell that I can't enter any text in. I can find no way of making this document more than one page long and now, after an hour of searching the manual, trying everything I can think of, I have to admit defeat and ask for help. Can anyone tell me how to keep adding rows to the document until I've finished my cataloguing?
