Can you change the search engine in iPad Safari?

iPad Safari is set to use Google in the upper right search field.

Can you change to another search engine other than Google like you can in regular Safari on or Macs?

Mac Pro 3.0 GHz Quad-Core, iPad WiFi + 3G, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 30" HP LP3065 Monitor, 22" Cinema Display

Yes, from the home page go to Settings > Safari > SearchEngine and the search engine can be set to Google, Yahoo! or Bing.

Awesome. Thx. I'm getting a little wary of google these days. The less contact with them the better IMHO 🙂

It would be even nicer if we can choose our own search engine instead of Google, Yahoo or Bing. There are better, safer search engines for kids that are using iPads.

Yes, and those might be available through some of the alternative browsers available in the App Store. In addition, iOS provides a range of ways you can filter web content there in Settings. I've not played with it but it looks as though you could exert some control that way.
