Nissan bluetooth and iPhone

The problem that I am having is that I can't use my bluetooth reliably with my iPhone 4. It worked fine with my iPhone 3G. What I get is that 50% of the times, I can't answer an incoming call. It simply does not pickup. When it does, it triggers a bug on the iOS that makes my ringer get stuck in the first seconds of the ringtone. The only way to get the call in from that point is to put the phone on speaker mode and revert it back. Once this happens, the ringer will be messed up until I reboot the phone and this issue has drained by battery twice already.

I already reset the phone 3 times, the last time as a new phone. The problem still prevails. Anybody else having this issue. I took my phone to the Apple Store Genius Bar, and they diagnose it as normal.

It's also possible you are not pairing it correctly, even if your 3G worked fine. Chances are Nissan has heard from other iP4 owners and if there is a connection issue, they can either tell they have a solution, or are working on one. One other thought is you haven't removed your 3G from your Nissan's bluetooth system and the iP4 is confusing it. Many people on car systems, discovered that removing the previous phone solved their connection issues.

You know, you might have a point. I did not remove the old phone because I would lose all my phone book items already configured on my car's system. So what I did was I replaced the phone. I guess I could try to delete the setting completely and pair the phone from scratch and see if that helps. At least this could be yet one more option. Thanks for the input. I will give your suggestion a shot. I have tried everything else, so why not give this a shot.

I have not checked with Nissan yet, but so far, I think there is a bug triggered by me answering a call with my built in bluetooth car system and my iPhone 4.1. If I reboot the phone after answering a call, I can avoid further issues. But this is a problem. I am very surprised that I am the only one having this issue. I have a coworker that also has an iPhone. I am thinking of paring his phone to my system, and see if I can trigger the problem. This is the only issue I am having with the phone, so I don't think it's my particular unit.

I too, am having similar problems with my Iphone 4 connecting to Bluetooth on my Nissan Bose system (2007 Nissan Altima). An incoming call connects but the " bluetooth radio" does not ring and the phone justs vibrates. I can only answer when the call shows up visually on the radio display (If I happen to detect the vibrating phone!!). (BTW. The phone is set for full volume ringtone PLUS vibrate) I can diall out with the phone over the bluetooth with no problem but the purpose of having handsfree is to be able to take an incoming call with a minimum of manipulation. I have spoken to Apple and they say it is a third party problem (Nissan) and, of course, Nissan say it is an Apple problem!! I am now on IOS 4.3.3 and the problem persists. I restored as new phone and removed all phones from Nissan Bluetooth and re-added from scratch with no success. It is obviously a software problem, but whose (Apple or Nissan (Bose)). Do I have to buy a new car just to have my IPhone 4 work?? GRRRRRRR!!!! I'm hoping someone out there has an answer!!!!!!

Yeah, I have a had a couple of conversations with Apple and Nissan. In short, it seems to me this is clearly an Apple problem. It's pretty simple to sort that out:

1. I had an iphone 3G that worked reliably w/ my 2007 Altima.

2. Family had an assortment of phones that worked reliably - Razor, iPhone 3gs, etc.

3. My BB Bold 9700 works without any problem

3. The ONLY phone that does not work with my 2007 Altima is the iPhone 4.

4. I cannot get ANY iPhone 4 to work properly, and each exhibits the exact same behavior

Yup... must be nissan's fault.

Forget it guys!!! In my case, my Nissan dealer went to the trouble and expense of giving me a brand new radio (same model number though) and still the Iphone 4 running IOS 5 will not handshake properly. It seems the eprom in the radio cannot be modified to accept the new operating system. The 20011 edition of the Nissan Altima has a new radio model and it works with the new Iphone software. So, either Apple modifies the software to be downwards compatible with the 2001 model (which AINTjust gonna happen!!!!) or you have to buy a new Altima Nissan!! (just a mere $30,000 proposition so what the heck!!) Note: You cannot just buy a new model radio to fit into your 2007 Altima. Seems the wiring harness is all changed!! Screwed again!!!

Well, I was planning on keeping my 2007 Sentra for at least another couple of years, so buying a new car just to have a workable Bluetooth system with my iPhone 4 is out of the question.

And, if I can't put a new radio/bluetooth system in from Nissan, I may have to look at other options and just not use the bluetooth in the car. That's a shame because of the built-in controls, and the automatic audio management when I receive a call.

I'm really ticked off about this because a far lesser phone worked absolutely flawlessly, and my expensive iPhone has issues. This problem is widespread. Look at other threads, and you'll see the same pattern - "my older phone (even iPhone 3G or 3Gs) worked fine, but my iPhone 4/4s doesn't work." And we're talking about Toyotas, Minis, etc.

Can't see how all these automakers are at fault. Looks more and more like Apple made a change starting in iOS 4.x through iOS 5, and now a lot of people are having problems.
