Mosaic Effect in iMovie11

I'm thinking of upgrading from iMovie 8 to iMovie 11. I have a project where I have to create a mosaic effect, i.e. multiple images in one frame. Each image would then dissolve into a new image independently of the other images in the frame. Can I do this in iMovie 11? Help is appreciated!

Mac Book, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

No you would need to use something like http://homepage.mac.com/knarf/MacOSaiX/ then import that in to iMovie to finish the project.

Dan, thanks! that is a very cool program. However, may be more than i need. I may not have explained properly. Imagine a frame with 9 separate images, three rows of three. In time to a music track, two or three of those nine would dissolve into other images, than another two or three would dissolve, and so on. Always leaving the basic template of nine images. Can i do that in iLife 11?

QuickTime Player Pro can make your file.
The .mov container supports up to 99 tracks (audio, video and text) and you can position them (offset values) or "layer" them (on top or behind other tracks).

http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/03war/ one of my files that uses multiple "videos" inside a single .mov container. I also used "masks" and "layers" and a background image as a "stage".

Yes I was thinking that but... it seems like a lot of work without keyframing and whatnot.

Jon Walker created a [nice Tutorial|http://web.me.com/jrwalker4/QuickNotes/QTPro/Entries/2008/5/24_T013__Multiple_Movie_in_a_SinglePlayer.html] that shows how to do a similar task in QuickTime Pro, as QuickTime Kirk was suggesting. This may give you a feel for how it would be done in QT Pro. QT Pro is not the most intuitive tool, but it is very powerful.

That was not as hard as I thought I remembered. Nice to hear other peoples birds screaming in the background. 😉 I have to shot my tutorials at night for the same reason.

Thanks again you guys. Some great tips here. As it turns out, I ended up using Keynote. Keynote allows you to do alot with frames in the slide, and then you can export to QT. Worked great. Thanks
