Delete Rests in Score Editor?

How do I do this?

(I know, I'm ********).

Clicking on the rest and deleting doesn't work.

You can't delete rests. They're automatically displayed. For example, if you have a quarter note on the downbeat, Logic inserts rests to fill in the bar. Now, that's not to say that there aren't workarounds for this. There are many, actually... But which method to use depends on what you're trying to do. So post back with a specific example of what you're looking to achieve.

Thanks. Too bad I can't attach a screenshot.

In one measure of piano I have:

Bass clef - half rest, dotted 8th rest, 8th note (so I'm missing a 16th value)
Treble clef-four sets of four 16th notes (but one of the 16th notes is stubbornly remaining as an 8th note, and also there is a weird 8th rest at the end of the measure just sitting there in the background).

I thought if I could delete and change the rests, things would fall into place.

Thank you, iSchwartz.

You can attach a screenshot. You have to host the picture on your own server (or an image hosting service) and then put the full URL of that image between exclamation points. Look at the Help & Terms of Use on the right, scroll down, and you'll see the exact format. If you can do that then it'll be a lot easier to help you with this.

Couple of key question tho...

1) is your part quantized?
2) what's the Quantization value as seen in the score editor? (this is a different quantization from what -- if at all -- your region is quantized to)

Turning Interpretation off in the inspector window will show you the true (not rounded off) note values.

That will make your 16ths look like 16ths.

In Score Window/Layout/Staff Styles you can add a voice to a staff and then choose to either display the rests for that voice or not.

Pianistic parts with multiple rhythms usually require this to display properly. If you want a rest for that part you can still insert one but they will not display automatically.
