Thanks. You solved the mystery! The USB cord fits in both ways, so you are led to believe that the problem is not with the USB cord. But the fact is, when you reverse it, it works. I'd call this a design flaw. Anyway, thanks for saving me the hassle of ordering a new cord and a new microphone!
Okay so here is what happened to me..
I ordered my Blue yeti microphone color midnight blue and I plugged it into my computer and nothing showed up. I tried putting it into different USB holes (i what they are called) and it didn’t work. When I opened the package I noticed that the microphone was dusty so I took out the cable from the mic and blew into both holes. I plugged it back in and boom it worked! I’m so glad I didn’t have to return it to get a new one because I needed to film a video that day!
Hi, I have the same problem, did you solve it yet?
thank you
Hi, I have the same problem, did you solve it yet?
thank you
I just got my Blue Yeti Mic.
Plugged it in directly to iMac and it isn't detected.
The mute light flashes for just a split second as I plug it in.
I plugged it into a Macbook Pro as well and it's not detected either.
Any solutions?
As it turned out, that microphone was returned after testing it on several other machines with the same non-result. I returned it and the replacement that was sent works well. So, you may have a defective mic. Good luck.
I got similar problem. Snowball microphone red light was ON, then mute light flashing for a couple of seconds but the mic was not recognised by macbook air.
I have tested the software, upgrades etc. for couple of hours and finally I have found out that..... I have inserted the plug on the side of Snowball upside down !!!!. I felt quite stupid 🙂 but was happy anyway that I have solved the problem 🙂 I simply expected that there is only one way of inserting any plug but it was not the case 🙂
not sure if it will solve your problem, but simple solutions are always worth testing 🙂 after correct plugging in the mic worked.
I was doing the same thing! Thank goodness you posted. I have group podcast in 40 minutes. 🙂
Seems odd: the USB input is shaped in such a way as it can only go in one way.
Check the four pins in the Snowball's USB input connection: I had tested 3 different USB cables with no success, then looked at the USB input on the Snowball and one of the four pins was bent out of line. Quick straightening with a pair of tweezers and I was back in business.
Hahahaha, wow. Same problem here. Thank you so much for the solution! 😝
hahahaha... it is good to know that I am not the only person in the world putting the plug upside down and then searching for drivers to make it work :)))))))
Hello Pawel.
Thinking of getting the V-Guitar soon!
Hello from TorySound! Hope all is well...
I had this same issue. It was working the night before and then didn't work this morning. After trying a bunch of things, I thought... "hmmm... I'll try another USB cable" ... and it worked. Not sure why the original cable stopped working but I'm just glad it is working now. 😀
update: So, I plugged the original USB cable (that came with yeti) back into the Yeti and connected it to the computer but this time I plugged it into the USB keyboard for ease of connecting. When I did so a dialogue box popped up saying, "Because a USB was drawing too much power from your computer. one of more of your USB devices has been disabled... ... "
conclusion: So the cable was okay.
So, I replugged it directory into the computer and the yeti was not recognized. 😝
And my only thought was that maybe for some reason the yeti is being disabled but still in working order.
further conclusion: Yeti works with other USB cable (which is shorter) so I'll just use it for now because the mic works and that makes me happy.
so, try other USB cables and see what happens. 😀
