Output dim when connected to VGA projector

I am using my 11.6 for Keynote presentations.

The display is much dimmer than when I was using my white MacBook.

I set Keynote to display on the alternate display, I set the display preferences to not mirror displays.

I have also tried it with mirrored displays.

I tried adjusting the display brightness, but it jut affected the computer display and not the VGA projector display.

Question: is there a way to adjust the VGA display brightness? How do I do that?

If you are running from the battery, there is a setting in the "Energy Saver" preferences, that will "slightly dim the display when using this power source." If you are running from the power adapter, this shouldn't be an issue.

I would think brightness needs to be adjusted on the projector, unless you have software on your Mac that controls the projector.

Thanks for the reply. The MBA is running off of the adapter, plugged in.

The confusion I have is that the same slides are dim when presented from the MBA, but not from my white MacBook, or the windows computer in the room.

I notice that even the slides with a white background are dimmer.

There must be an adjustment for brightness for the VGA output somewhere.

I had the same problem and solved it. You need to go the display panel for the second display (presumably a projector) and go to the colors tab and uncheck show profiles for this display only. This then lists an additional 5 or so profiles. Select the sVGA (really anyone but the default works great) and your slides will brighten immediately on the projector! I was very worried about this since I had 6 talks coming up and my slides looked terrible on our projector until I did this.
