Ok, another post. If I go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/,
it says I have 10,1,103,19 version of Flash installed.
    Shouldn't it be the 10.2.161.23 I installed?

OK, this adobe site shows that Flash 10.1.x is the current production Flash software
for your Mac OS X (10.6.4):

Hi, I have the same problem. I've tried everything that has been suggested (except for a fresh Mac OS X install because I'm reluctant to spend hours on this). The odd thing is that it worked just fine 2 days ago. I've recently installed the Firefox 4 Beta and the new Mac OS X 6.5 update. I can't remember though if it was still working afterwards so I can't tell if it is in any way connected to the problem. Also I've been using the latest Flash Beta 10.2.something for a while now and it worked just fine before. What's also odd: chatroulette.com works fine, but all other site don't. I'm not even asked for permission to use the cam on those. On the flash settings there only is the integrated iSight as an option (there used to be the USB option too 2 days ago). This option works on chatroulette.com though for some reason... Any more ideas??

    Hello Stefan.KK

Same fixes will work for same problem, but not necessarily for the same symptom.

Users posting here have a variety of system configurations, operating systems, applications,
and third-party add-ons and are accessing a variety of web sites. Therefore, the
symptom that +iSight does not work in a Flashed-based web site+ might not mean that the
problem causing the symptom is the same as for other users.

OS X comprises hundreds of thousands of files, some of which may have been modified
or supplemented by various third-party additions. Additionally, it is possible that some
third-party additions may require updating for compatibility with installed OS X or
Flash components. In such complex circumstances, identifying specific problems
that cause the symptoms troubling each user is beyond my knowledge.

If the "everything" you have tried includes applying the 10.6.5 Combo Update,
my best suggestion is that you spend the hours to reinstall OS X.

If you have uninstalled all third-party additions but your iSight still does not work, erase your
startup disk before reinstalling OS X one more time. To eliminate possible
third-party conflicts, test iSight again before reinstalling any necessary third-party items.

Thank you for your message! I think it is rather likely to be the same problem. It only works on one site but it doesn't on EVERY other site that I've tested (and I've been to many...saw a lot of gross stuff) due to the fact that the USB-option disappeared which kind of seems to be the cause of the problem for everyone else too. Also the problem started to occur right around the time when so many others have this problem. Anyway, I really hope someone finds the cause of this or comes up with a solution other than reinstalling the whole system (which I don't think will fix it for sure either). I will try to delete all other third-party plugins but flash it pretty much the only one. No google-stuff involved or so.

    You're welcome.

We will disagree on this one. I cannot duplicate your problem on my 10.6.5 Macs.

I can see from your posts that you use third-party software, which is what I believe is the likely cause.

Until all your third-party items are update or you zero your disk, reinstall, and test after a fresh install,
I do not see any way to logically conclude that the problem is the same for all users.

    Regards,
    Jim

    Hi everyone,

I have one other thought on this.

Can people check that they do not in fact have two Flash Plug-ins.

I know that some Adobe Installs install the incorrect User.
In Flash's case this may mean that there is a Plug-in in your Home Folder/Library/Internet Plug-ins (Hard Drive/Users/(your account)/Library/Internet Plug-ins

    AND
    one in Hard Drive/Library/Internet Plug-ins

Mine is ONLY in Hard Drive/Library/Internet Plug-ins.

There is nothing in my Home Folder/Library/Internet Plug-ins

    Hi EZ Jim,

    I don't have it either.

It was an idea that I had based on a couple/few of things.

    1) Not everyone has the Google Plug-ins.
    2) It does seem related to a Flash install or Update.
    3) it looks like a conflict with something else.
    4) My G4 has a go at Updating Adobe Reader 8 as it thinks it is on there somewhere.
    5) I have heard that sometimes when a Users is not Logged in as Admin some adobe Products seem to be installed under the User ID (502 or upwards) and not under User ID 501. (It does not seem to ask that "Install For All Users" Question). I don't remember the exact details.
    a) I am presuming though that the Flash Player and hence Plug-ins would be installed as part of the CS package.

    It was just an idea.

Perhaps that is true for some users of some Adobe Products in some installations?

I updated to the latest Adobe plugins when not Logged in as Admin, so either you got some
bad info or Adobe does not work consistently between updates or between systems being updated.

If others respond to your request, we may be able to analyze further.

To 10.6.5 users still having problems with webcams in Flash sites:

If iSight still works properly with everything else, consider these two possibilities:

    (1) If you have installed Google plugins, user OysterOyster reports that uninstalling them restores proper iSight function with Flash and Mac OS X 10.6.5.

If Google is your problem, the GoogleVoiceAndVideoUninstaller.app should be in your hard drive's Library/Application Support/Google/ folder. (not your home folder library)

At least one other user has reported that using the Google uninstaller worked for him, too.

    (2) Otherwise, user joew13 reports that installing the new Flash beta fixed Flash sites for him:

Clicking this link will download the beta --> http://tinyurl.com/2frejs4

Other users have also reported success after the beta update.

Ok, I'm back again. I am having the same problem as StefanKK. I have installed and reinstalled Flash multiple times, both the version I found on the Adobe website and the beta version supplied on this forum. I also uninstalled Google Voice, which made sites like ChatRoulette and Mebeam work fine. I repaired my disk permissions. However, like StefanKK said, other Flash sites, such as fonomo, do not work at all. I can right click and open the settings panel for Flash and when I do, I can go to the last tab and select my iSight (which is already now selected by default because it is the only camera listed), and when I click the little blue window in that panel my camera will turn on and show my image. Yet as soon as I close the settings the camera shuts off.

Any help with this is appreciated.
