Another possibility for you is a Mac Mini, you can also find refurbished models of those too.
I'm currently a junior in high school and would love to have an iMac. The cost is quite high for me so I was wondering if there is any kind of program that would be able to lower the cost of a new iMac.

Benprio is spot on, go
to the Imac Refurbished site and you will see a variety of Apple Refurb iMacs. Most everyone that gets them says they're virtually identical to a new machine. Apple stands behind them by offering the same warranty as new and they're also eligible for AppleCare.

Hello, and welcome to the Apple Discussion forums.
There are at least three ways to purcahse an iMac at a reduced price.
First, check the Apple Education Store to see if your high school is listed. If they are listed, you can purchase online at the education prices. The education discount is about 10%. And if you take your student ID to your local Apple Store, you should be eligible for the discount there, too.
Second, consider a refurbished iMac from Apple. They are fully checked out/fixed/cleaned up, assigned a new serial number, have full warranty coverage and are eligible for AppleCare. Depending on the model and stock on hand, the discounts can be as much as 30% off new. I have purchased a number of refurbished Macs over the years and they all work perfectly.
There is also a good supply of used Macs in the market. Check out lowendmac.com for a list of dealers. Some of the online firms that have been around for years include usedmacs.com, macofalltrades.com, powermax.com, dvwarehouse.com, themacstore.com

Hello. You are correct. I'm a teacher myself and Apple provides a discount to K-12 teachers, administrators and staff persons but not to high school students. You have to be a college student to receive a discount from Apple.
Have you looked at some of the refurbished iMacs? In many cases the prices are better than or equal to the educational discount offered by Apple. From what I have gathered from reading these forums, the owners of refurbished Macs are quite happy with their purchases. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for your response. I had considered the Education Store option but I thought those prices did not apply to high school students, just college students. Am I incorrect?
Did you go to the link I provided above?
There is an option right there for K-12, clear as day. Enter your high school name, city or zip code and click search.

You can look into it, also if you have an Apple Store in your area you can inquire there.
Best of luck!
Roger
