Is running Mono software safe on mac

Im thinking of installing the Mono software on my mac in order to use some android applications on the mac. Just wondering about this software, since it crosses platforms, does it open my mac up to problems or make it vulnerable?

iMac 8,1, Mac OS X (10.5.7), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz

Mono is perfectly safe to install and use....

for those wondering, its basically a package that is open source and compatible with .NET ... so programmers can make their .NET apps easily run on non-Windows machines... good for programming cross platform code... using like C# with mono and GTK for windowing... can make minor changes and recompile and make Linux, Mac, and Windows versions...
