Image capture error with latest hp drivers (2.5.2) from Software Update

My Photosmart Premium c309g won't scan using latest Apple drivers from Software Update 03 November 2010. In image capture I get the following message "Scanner reported an error. Image Capture has encountered an unknown error. The image could not be saved. Please try again."

Needless to say this happens every time I try. Any ideas Apple (or anyone else)?

iMac 24", Mac OS X (10.6.3), Time Capsule 1TB single band "n"

Repair permissions. If no go, check http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw _lang=&product=3793676#N182 and download the latest HP stuff, install it, and run the Software Update again or manually download and install the 2.5.2 update.

Thanks for your response. Repairing permissions helped somewhat (although I'm still getting the message every so often & my scanner freezes mid-scan). The HP drivers are no good - HP suggest NOT installing them with Snow Leopard.The HP rep in the shop recommended the printer/scanner to me specifically for heavy use in Snow Leopard & said it was an opening offer as it was a new model. The HP support representative on their website told me it was a discontinued product and will not be supported further under Snow Leopard. Either the rep was incompetent or dishonest. Either way its the last HP product I'll be buying!

That I can't answer, but that model does appear to have been out for some time. Peruse the first link I sent and you'll see it states support for Tiger and Leopard under the specs or requirements link.
