Turning off Sections setting in Pages '09

There are 2 modes in Pages:

*Word Processing* where pages run from one to the other and text flows automatically from one to the next.

Layout mode where every page is separate and you must create textboxes to put text in and to link them if you want text flow. In effect every page is a section of its own.

If you are having extra blank pages it is probably because you have text wrap on images and/or you hammering away at the return key to position text and have some stray returns spilling over at the end of your page.

+Menu > View > Show Invisibles/Layout+ to see what is spilling over and to delete them.

In addition to Peters respons I would like to add that you can download the Pages User Guide by clicking on its name in the Pages Help menu. You will get a searchable pdf file with lots of info on Pages.

I had the same problem as you and I found this in another post. Maybe it will help. Go to the top of the blank page and hit delete once. Apparently there is an invisible curser at the top of the blank page and you have to backspace via delete. The problem disappeared on my doc when I did this. Cryptic. Pointlessly cryptic.

I think you have misunderstood whatever you read.

There is no such thing as an "invisible cursor".

There will either be a page break on the previous page, which obviously does what it says, and creates a page after, or something else that has spilled over such as a word space, tab, return or other invisible character.

Thanks for the clarification. Invisible cursor vs. Invisible character. I get my error in wording. I appreciate the advice you gave. I still don't understand why there isn't an option in the thumbnails section that lets you delete whatever page you want.

Because in Word Processing the text is part of a thread of content that flows from page to page.

You could be chopping it off mid-word even.

I can not see how the concept of text in WP is so difficult.

Try ripping a page out of a book and see what that does for reading and continuity. It is not like there is no connection between what is on one page and another.

Sections (effectively Chapters) on the other hand are a distinct unit of material that has a clear beginning and an end.
